It’s easy to get started. Every day select an announcement from one content area. Some announcements are tied to specific dates and you may choose to organize your material in advance to accommodate these dates. Or Select topics according to your school needs or at random.
For example in the category social tips some announcements are: gossip, kind words, bullying, cheating. You might have a specific content area that you wish to focus on with your student population. You can also correlate this social tip along with a success tip in a related category during the same week.
In the famous person category the announcement can be read as a happy birthday message read on the famous person’s birthday or simply omit that opening and share this person on any day you desire.
The content of the all the announcements is flexible enough to allow for them to be read on any day of the year.
Inviting students to be narrators increases their interest and the listening interest of their peers. Some schools might prefer a teacher referral for reading, others a student volunteer, reading could be also be given as credit for any class. It’s best to include the diversity of your student population, student leaders, athletes, club members are the easiest to select. But don’t forget those students with special needs, new students, and students with behavior problems. It is recommended that when inviting students to be narrators that you give them an advance copy to read before airtime.
To make your daily announcements something your staff and students look forward to also include a wide variety of staff members, including your support staff, secretaries, custodians, and cafeteria staff. Students will recognize them and see them as part of the professional community in your school.
